Guerilla/Sidewalk Astronomy for How To Volunteer
John Dobson created guerilla astronomy. He would take his telescope out to the streets of San Francisco, point it at the moon, and ask passers by if they want to look at the moon. He became famous for it and developing an expensive telescope we now call the Dobsonian. We have a couple of members that do sidewalk astronomy but we can always use more. How To Volunteer
The official mission of the SAS includes outreach as one of the main efforts of the organization. The goal of outreach is to share the observational, educational, and social aspects of amateur astronomy with the greater community.
There are many opportunities available members who would like to volunteer, such as virtual talks with schools and scout troops, and support at star parties.
